Phase I
In Heart Strides Phase I, participants are hospital patients and are given a detailed explanation of the program by trained staff.
Phase II
In Heart Strides Phase II Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation takes place in the Fitness Center at the Carolina Regional Heart Center. (Average cost is $2,500-$3,000 for 12 weeks).
MedEx Program
MedEx is for Heart Strides graduates who need a maintenance basis for their programs, and individuals with documented health issues such as cancer, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, etc., requiring some special monitoring/consulting. These participants are in the program a minimum of eight weeks.
Heart Strides Staff
High Point Regional's Heart Strides staff consists of nurses, exercise specialists with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, respiratory therapists, a licensed dietitian, psychologist and vocational rehab counselor. Staff includes members with master’s degrees and with Advanced Cardiac Life Support clinical certifications. Staff ratio for Phase II is one staff member to every four patients. Medical directors specializing in either cardiac or pulmonary lead the staff.
