American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Recognition for Heart Attack Care
High Point Regional Health System recently qualified for the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Gold Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes High Point Regional Health System’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients that effectively improves the survival and care of STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) patients.
U.S. News & World Report Ranks High Point Regional Health System Highest Ranked Non-Academic Hospital in North Carolina
According to U.S. News & World Report latest rankings of the nation’s Best Hospitals, High Point Regional Health System is the highest ranked non-academic hospital in North Carolina and the fourth best hospital in North Carolina.
High Point Regional Health System was also ranked 23rd in the nation for the treatment of Diabetes and Endocrinology. In addition, the health system was designated as a "high performer" in seven specialties.
The Hayworth Cancer Center at High Point Regional was also the highest ranking community cancer center in the Triad for the fourth consecutive year.
Thomson Reuters Top 50
According to Thomson Reuters, High Point Regional Health System is one of the Top-50 Cardiovascular Hospitals in the nation and the only hospital in North Carolina to make the list. According to Thomson Reuters, hospitals were evaluated in four distinct areas: clinical outcome measures, clinical process measures, extended outcome measures and efficiency measures. Being treated at a Top-50 cardiovascular hospital could mean the difference between life and death. According to the study, if all cardiovascular providers performed at the level of this year's winners, more than 7,500 additional lives could have been saved. In addition, nearly 12,000 additional patients could be complication free and approximately $910 million could be saved.
North Carolina Awards for Excellence:
The North Carolina Awards for Excellence (NCAfE) process is a cooperative industry, academic, and government initiative to improve organizational competitiveness and to provide recognition for performance excellence. Examiners are trained to evaluate, comment upon, and score each participant's criteria response and prepare feedback reports for participants. The program was initially formed in 1989 as a foundation through an executive order of the governor. It was transferred to the Industrial Extension Service (IES) at North Carolina State University in 2001.
High Point Regional wins National Quality Award
On November 1, 2007, Press Ganey Associates, Inc. named High Point Regional Health System a 2007 Success Story Award Winner.
Press Ganey currently partners with more than 7,000 health care facilities—including nearly 40 percent of U.S. hospitals—to measure and improve the quality of their care. The company’s databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations.
