Chemo No. 4 - Wed. Session - (Journal Date: 5/11/05)

5/25/2005

Today I found the chemo nurses all dressed up in their regular (boring) health care professional uniforms of black and white. They must not have gotten the memo.....ALOHA PEOPLE!!...it's HAWAIIAN SHIRT DAY at the chemo center!! At least I wore one!!

Good thing I had early chemo today (8:30 a.m.) so I spared them the grass skirt and coconut shells!! Maybe next time.

Not much different with this round of Rituxin after the "pre-chemo cocktail." I am getting through these four hour sessions in about 2.5 hours now....maybe the nurses are trying to tell me something.....or kill me??

Anyway, I've been reflecting on how important it is to not let this disease or its treatments work its way into my family relationships. I think if a person is cognizant of their mental state while on the chemo and anti-chemo drugs, that it is ok to feel and act poorly. It is important to continue to look at your children and your family as valuable treasures and honor them and yourself daily. Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless!
