Doctors, Hospital Announce Major Expansion Plans
High Point Regional Health System and Cornerstone Health Care, P.A. announced plans today to form a partnership to build a healthcare facility as large as 40,000 to 50,000 square feet near the intersection of Premier Drive and Wendover Avenue.
Initial plans for Premier Medical Plaza, call for a combination of physician offices, outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging and Premier Fertility Center, and community and patient education facilities.
“About a decade ago our Board of Trustees set into motion our facility expansion plans in two phases,” said Jeffrey Miller, President of High Point Regional. “We spent about seven years of that decade creating world class facilities in downtown High Point. Now, over the past three years, we’ve begun to develop facilities to provide more convenience to our patients – like the facility we just opened in Thomasville, the one we’re building in Kernersville and now this one, in northern High Point.”
“We serve more patients from northern High Point than any other area of our region,” said Grace Terrell, MD, President of Cornerstone Health Care, P.A. “It makes sense for us to partner with High Point Regional to provide more convenient access to Cornerstone providers for our patients.”
The Health System purchased 9.3 acres of land in 1998 for $600,000 at the proposed site, 4550 Premier Drive. Depending on the eventual size and components of the new facility, the construction costs may approach $15,000,000, and facility opening may be as soon as Summer, 2008.
